found this over at Sankaku Complex,a a site with intresting articles but the photos they use to accompany them are deffinatly NOT a work safe. Also have articles like 2Chan's "Top 10 anime women to have sex with" I found that a funny read if not a bit disturbing. Anyway onto this article.

2ch believes it has successfully divided anime otaku into two distinct types:

Type A:

A person who simply enjoys “anime.”

Is proud of Japan’s anime.

Evaluates anime based on direction, voice acting, art, etc.

Hates shallow anime with no real content.

Story emphasis >>>>> Moe anime.

A recent example would Higashi no Eden. Fans of anime like Lain or Ghost in the Shell would probably be this kind.

Type B:

A person who simply enjoys “characters.”

Will watch an anime if it includes cute or beautiful characters.

Doesn’t care if story is awful, as long as the characters are of interest.

Evaluates anime based on which seiyuu are in it and what the characters look like.

Loves moe elements. Doesn’t like complex anime.

The otaku the media picks up on are usually this kind.

Doesn’t know that much about anime and so is often criticised as by Type A otaku.

However, they make much better customers than the more discerning Type A otaku.

Recently there has been a huge increase in anime targeted at Type B otaku.

People who like K-ON!, Queen’s Blade, Strike Witches and so on would be in this class.

I consider myself to be a fusion of A and B. there are some series where the story may be horrible but I like the characters. I prefer a deep story but sometimes want a bit of mindless fun.

I'm definitely type B because I'm the person that will watch the worst anime on the planet, as long as it has a live story in it. :)

Definitely a B type. I can't stand a story if the characters look bad. when I read romance manga, I really like it when the main characters are good looking. Not like flashy or anything, but I don't want to read a manga with characters that look quirky. I guess the best examples I can give are Skip Beat and GE-Good Ending. The characters aren't characters out of a fantasy, but they don't look bad either.

New option: OPTION C! A fusion of both A and B that it seems everybody here is (Including me!)

I think I'm more A than B.

I'm a type A and B. We need a third option. Lol, most people will be both.

Oh pigeonholing. I don't think most people fit to either A or B but rather most people share characteristics from both.

I'm A and B too. I REALLY love shorter series, but with adorable characters that attract me to them, but i'm also REALLY picky about my animation, voice actors, details like that. Lain is very good by the way, it messes with you, and is disturbing. @.@

I'd say I'm a fuse of both A and B as well. I loved K-ON! a lot, because the characters were fun to watch, but mostly because it was a music anime. And I've heard of Lain, but haven't gotten around to it. I heard it was a "mind-fuck", and I happen to be a huge fan of stories like that! Haha.
