Best Japanese Animated Film?

i will always love spirited away and princess mononoke, though currently i am in love with the girl who leapt through time

Miyazaki films always kick butt. My most favorite ones as of now are My Neighbor Totoro and Ponyo. Lol

Spirited Away is a much better Miyazaki Film than Mononoke. So is Howl's moving Castle, but the book beats the Anime.

I want to read the book for Howl's Moving Castle. See Maria! I have told you ten gazillion times to watch Howl's Moving Castle!!! Now WATCH IT!!

Anyways, My Neighbor Totoro is also great. Also, Kiki's Delivery Service was my first-ever encounter with anime, so naturally that's at the top of my list. Has anyone seen the FMA movie "Conquerer of Shambala"? I wanted to see it because I love Full Metal Alchemist and it seems like the plot is really cool, but I'm fairly sure my cousin saw it and didn't like it much.

I'll have to watch it over the summer then...

I'm a big fan of surreal, emotionally impressionable work, and Makoto Shinkai makes it happen in this film. He has been hailed as "the next Miyazaki," but he's doing something much different than Miyazaki would, while similarly pushing the envelope. Amazing animation, simple characters groping for something beyond themselves, and a story that almost anyone can comprehend. He's very much a genius storyteller for me, using visuals and narration to cultivate an amazing atmosphere. And yes, I cried the first time I saw it all the way through. I own all three of his works on DVD. This film is definitely worth looking into.

I love Miyazaki and Shinkai ^_^

I personally love all of Miyazaki's movies. Kiki 's delivery service and Grave of the Fireflies being my favorite

Apart from Myiazaki's movies and 5 cm per second (which are already mentioned ...) I really love Ghost in the Shell.

Also it's fun to spot references to this movie in other movies.

Conquerer of Shambala was GREAT! Too bad the way they ended it left me empty.

Myiazaki's coming out with a new movie called "ponyo" that I'm really excited to see! It's coming out this friday, the 14th, and I'm really excited but I think I'll be at Indian Island already D:
