Well here's one for you guys, enjoy.
"Detectives are still interviewing a John Hopkins University student who fatally lacerated the upper body of a man breaking into his off-campus residence overnight."
"They heard shouts and screams from a neighboring house and found the suspected burglar suffering from a nearly severed hand and lacerations to his upper body, he said.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The student told police that he heard a commotion in the house and went downstairs armed with a samurai sword, Guglielmi said. He saw the side door to the garage had been pried open and found a man inside, who lunged at the student."
"One things for sure: Don't fuck with gamers"

Do both the suspects get charged with crimes or what?? Cus one broke into the house and the other killed the guy. But it's confusing because it was for self defense...BUT WHY A SAMARAI SWORD???? 3 years, 8 months ago

I know someone who just started going to John Hopkins! I have to ask her if she heard about this! O_O EDIT: I did speak to my friend, and she said she was a bit apprehensive about the whole thing. She didn't know that guy, but since this happened off-campus, she wasn't in any real danger compared to the security that they have. She was actually surprised that the news had gotten around so widely. This is very cool though that he actually went and investigated. It really doesn't take much to swing a samurai sword. And chances are, if you own one of these things, you're not just an affeccinato, but you've either practiced or pretended to practice with it more than once. So it's not the swinging part that is very cool. It's the fact that he actually did defensively make a strike with it. I'm sure Kenshin fans all around are very pleased and that Kenshin has been brought up at least a dozen times in their presence. XD 3 years, 8 months ago

I was speaking figuratively in jest due to the guy using a samurai sword. Rurouni Kenshin is a classic, long-running anime/manga series. In other words, I was being anime otaku for a bit. -

Of note to Tom: The student CAN be charged with murder if the DA feels so compelled. The family of the criminal might want charges pressed because even if a thief falls off of your stairs while in your house, it is still YOUR HOUSE and therefore your responsibility. The legal system is dumb, I know. As much as I feel bad for the man who died, it was only a matter of time, with a sheet like his, that something bad was going to happen. However, since I now work in "Loss Prevention", I can't really say much to support him. I feel that he was doing the wrong thing, even if it was the right thing for him (help his family, etc). Theft still isn't right no matter what the purpose, and by going into that underbelly of society, you are accepting that tragic consequences can occur. 3 years, 8 months ago

thanks for the point of information. I'll be sure to grease up my stairs at night so burglars fall off. -

Well, as I understand it, he had to talk to a lot of police afterward and didn't get much sleep that night. Violence in real life is rarely as cool as it is on screen. Still, far better that he have hassles than wind up in the morgue. 3 years, 7 months ago

THIS GUY IS MY NEW HERO THATS PROBABLY THE BEST WAY TO GO TO JAIL EVER. Off a Robber with a Samurai Sword. Awesome. Like I'd probably go downstairs with my Elder Wand and start shouting Crucio and Aveda Kedavera. 3 years, 8 months ago

I don't think he's going to jail - he only swung the sword once and the burglar is said to have lunged at him. It will probably be considered self defense. Especially since the burglar had a criminal record -

I guess those things really *are* made for killing people - damn... It says in the article that the kid only swung the sword once, so he probably won't be charged with murder (or even manslaughter) 3 years, 8 months ago

Not really, if he were a real person, he could've used a bat or a shotgun, and still had a productive life. ;-) -

Heh, Some people just swing the swords wildly, some can actually use them. This guy must have been in a panic, though also if it was a intruder it's still a shame if someone dies. But hell, a sword is a very good defensive weapon luckily the intruder lacked a gun. 3 years, 8 months ago
