NYAF joins forces with NY Comic Con

"According to the press release that was sent out today, the combined 2010 New York Comic-Con and New York Anime Festival will take up almost the entire Javits Center. (Past New York Comic-Cons have booked about 1/3 - 1/2 of the center, New York Anime Festival typically uses 1/3 - 1/4 of the exhibit space). While the shows will maintain separate programming schedules and guest lists, they will share exhibit floor spaces. Best of all, attendees will be able to attend both shows for the cost of one admission pass. All in all, a win-win situation for fans and exhibitors alike. As an added bonus, the show will be held in early October, a time when the Big Apple enjoys some of the most pleasant weather of the year."

All I can say, is bigger is better! NYAF is going to be huge this year, and next year, combined with comic-con, almost unthinkable! More vendors, more panels, more peeps, more fun!

I think this would be a great idea to combine the 2 cons, my only question/concern would be the Masquerade Parade where they tend to choose who will go and take part in the World Cos-Play Summimt. I kinda have an odd feeling that some of the con goers from the NYCC will either try to make their way in, or possibly try to over run it. I could be wrong on both aspects of it, but I guess we will have to wait til 2010 to see how things are going to go.

This will go in either one of the two extremes: a brilliant success or complete disaster.

I'm hoping for the former, but expecting the latter.

There already exists a scientific name to explain the potential fallout: cross contamination.

For a historical reference, see here: Nika Riots in Constantinople

UMMM How many sweaty nerds is too many? Probably the combination of the two. I want to be able to breathe, uummmk?

Wouldn't even more people show up if the two were combined (ignoring repeat attenders)? Wouldn't that be BAD!?

So hot right now... I don't know if the otakus and the marvel fanboys will play nice, but having them at the same time seems like a nobrainer to me :)

This should be an interesting convention to have both the NYCC and NYAF together under the same roof at the same time. I Think it would be both beneficial for both conventions to have them held together at the same time. On the other hand there can be some other unforseen misfortunes.

Just like Drakenfyre said The Cosplay Masquerade trying to be over-ran by comic fanboys and what not. But I think we need to see what happens with that.

Another Thing is Will they have it set in 1 exhibition hall or will it be separated. NYAF on 1 side and NYCC on the other. I think If they mixed both in one hall everything will be too crowded and possibly will decrease the convention experience. If they do it in 2 areas, it would be a bit more manageable. But We will see what happens.

Overall. I Cant wait either way. It should be fun.
