Let's say that your favorite anime/manga is being made into a live action movie. Who would you want to be in the movie? Do you think that the anime/manga would be good as a live action movie? Any preferences when it comes to directors? Producers? Writers?

Let me just say that I totally agree with Tom in saying I want Pokemon to be a live action movie, but I also think if they got the casting and the special effects right I would love to see Full Metal Alchemist be live action. 3 years, 9 months ago

You can't really compress a series in a single movie... That being said I find myself wondering. There are some slow paced slice of life series which would be interesting as the most important part is the acting and drama, not the gimmicks. Haibane Renmei - I think I could live without those angelic wings, the costumes would have to make up for it though - and the two leading actressess would have chance to really show off. (For that matter it's the closest visual adaption of the style Murakami's books are in.) Planetes - Hmm. Too much going on to put in a movie, but as a series this would be interesting. A very different kind of sci-fi series. The matters it covers may be a bit too up-to-date (terrorism) though. ... and Lars von Trier should totally do a My-Hime adaption. That would be delicously sick. 3 years, 8 months ago

Honestly... nothing. Animation has the advantage of being easy to create impossible scenarios. Do you want to see more wirefight films? Hell no. Frankly, the only direction anime or manga should go is to gaming (assuming it has something to offer and isn't just a total cash-in). I'm not a fan of Naruto at ALL, but the demos for their games have been very enjoyable. Movies are too much of a passive form of entertainment, and to improve from the traditional anime or manga, gaming is the only logical next step. I'd like to see something come together, but I just know I'll be crushed, just like I was with every childhood series being turned into box-office "hits". 3 years, 9 months ago

I wouldn't mind seeing a live action Genshiken series. Since Genshiken doesn't do anything wild and out of ordinary, it would transfer over to live action very well. On the plus side it would also offer a more realistic development of the characters of Genshiken. And yes, live action doesn't have to be only movies. Just look at what they did with Sailor Moon. 3 years, 6 months ago

I LIKE! Live-action series about anime nerds. The in-anime anime (what's its name?) should of course be also a live action version! -

ZeldaZelda live action!! I know it may not be considered anime, but there is a manga out for Oot I believe. Anyway, some people made an awesome zelda trailer as an april fools for a real movie, but it was kind of depressing when I found out it was fake :( It was an awesome trailer though! :) 3 years, 9 months ago

ugh, it's so depressing! Why would they bother making such an excellent trailer if they weren't going ot actually make a movie?! it's not fair... -

Depressing? It is funny as hell; I know the guy who made that video for IGN and he still laughs about it to this day. BTW it would have been terrible; video games can't be movies. -

I actually had a bit of an idea for a Kuroshitsuji movie/live action. It wouldn't follow the anime exactly, but I think it could take a bit of a twist on the story, like a side story that involves more of the servants, Ciel, and Sebastian and a different kind of threat. 3 years, 8 months ago

i was thinking soul eater. i would imagine that it would be absolutely sexy to see soul go from human to weapon(what, with the CGI technology today). But I agree with GooieGreen. Most animes that have been made into live action movies were bad. i have never heard a positive comment about these kinds of movies(except Death Note). 3 years, 8 months ago

Ok, I get what GooieGreen and Kirby264 are saying because it's true, most live action anime spinoffs have been absoulutely awful. With that said, let's say that, hypothetically, the movie didn't completely suck. Let's all imagine a world where hollywood is actually capable of turning an anime into a deccent movie. if that is the case, what movie would you want to see and who would you choose to play your favorite character? Go to your happy place and imagine a good anime spinoff live action movie... 3 years, 8 months ago

Okay, well, hypothetically, I still don't want to see a live-action recreation. Cowboy Bebop's casting alone makes me want to vomit. -

I think xxxHolic could work well as on live action. It has serious/mature themes but nothing too graphic. I'd say it would be PG-13. But the cheezy factor isn't too bad either. As long as they're subtle about the mystical stuff. 3 years, 8 months ago

i'd really like to see a live action version of school days. IDK, i mean, when i think about it, it really seems like it would transition well into live action. one movie condensing the whole series. it should have japanese actors but, american ones might work too, actually nevermind about the american actors. 3 years, 3 months ago
