i guess my first "anime love" was when i was rlly little. im pretty sure it was sailor moon and pokemon! i was always so exited when it was on, those were the days. but my on-going "anime love" is naruto, and for a while now. when it first came out on CN i thought it was pretty stupid, but then i kept watching and got rlly attached! :) 3 years, 8 months ago

FMA was definitely love at first sight, and to answer Jims question Everything about it appealed to me the characters, the perfect voice acting, the plot, and most importantly the action. 3 years, 8 months ago

My first anime love was probably Pokemon, but I'm not entirely sure. I watched a whole lot of anime without even realizing it when I was child, all thanks to Toonami (R.I.P.). I remember me and my friends running around the yard looking for Pokemon, having mock battles and watching videos. I still play the games, as do some of my friends, but we've lost respect for the show ever since Misty left. lol I also watched Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z a lot! I grew out of Sailor Moon because I started hating the whole ditzy magical girl thing, but I never grew out of Dragon Ball Z. There was also Yugioh (beat some older guy on my first try), Rurouni Kenshin (swordfights with my bud Charles every Sunday) and Tenchi Muyo (wanted my own cabbit). Yep, anime was definitely a huge part of my life, and it still is. lol 3 years, 8 months ago

I think it was two or three years ago. Some guy at university suggested watching Avatar and so I did that. I watched Season 1 in one go and was baffled. That was the first (TV) series I watched since years, I kinda threw away my TV as I realised I watched too much crap. Well. Avatar isn't an Anime, but I was hooked to browsing the net for interesting series. The next was Death Note. From then on I explored this interesting medium a lot. I think the more mature and often darker tone of some Anime really hooked me. Now, here I am. Eagerly awaiting the next bakemonogatari episode. Damn. I have to say that with more exposure and curiosity in Japanese culture my interests broadend. I can't imagine myself watching Toradora a few years ago, but I enjoyed it. It's still a guilty pleasure sometimes - I have next to no friends who share this specific interest/obsession. 3 years, 9 months ago

EHH Avatar is close enough, IMO. That is quite a leap from Avatar to Death Note, though! -

Before I actually knew what anime was, I loved Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, SD Gundam, Dragon Ball/DBZ and Pokemon. Not making the connection there, I used to believe my first anime was InuYasha. Fell in love with Sesshomaru's character. 3 years, 9 months ago

I first really got into anime when my brother would watch dragonball z like everyday. Therefore, so would I. At the time I didn't really know it was "anime" but I still loved watching it. Then, I went over my aunt's friend's house. They were sort of "baby sitting" me but I didn't really know at the time. My aunt's friend's son had an obsession over Go and apparently along with this came the obsession with the hikaru No Go anime and manga. I was like, "wow this is awesome!" and continued watching the whole series. The I moved on to Keroro Gunsu cus my other friend was obsessed with it and on to Reborn! Cus my brother's girlfriend reccommended it. And of course before this I was a pokemon' / totally spies / Gamtaro fanatic. Anyway, as you can see, there were many factors and different influences leading to my love of anime and manga. 3 years, 10 months ago

My first-ever encounter with anime was the movie Kiki's Delivery Service. I watched it nearly every day for at least a year...then I got a pokemon tape that I also watched constantly. I don't know why I never actually watched it when it was on tv...then came inuyasha and yugioh. It wasn't until I moved that I really got into anime. I started to watch naruto a bit, and then, one lonely summer night, I was sneakily watching tv at 2 a.m., and that is when I discovered Fullmetal Alchemist. That was when I became completely obsessed. I watched it every saturday until school started, and when I looked it up on the internet it lead to discoveries of many other greats... 3 years, 10 months ago

When I was little, I religiously watched the Israeli version of pokemon every day at three o'clock but never knew it was Japanese. The first time I became interested in anime was when I watched this block of cartoons at night called telemanga. All the anime were in Japanese with Hebrew subtitles. I at first liked watching inuyasha because it had a simple plot and was different than anything that I ever saw. after that was Ranma 1/2 which I turned off because none of it made sense because of the japanese culture included in it. It seemed silly. Once when my friend came over and the show came on, he told me that they show a girl's boobs (they edited all nudity and made the bathhouses blurry in Israel). I watched a full episode and became a little interested. Then, I watched the first episode online and was shocked when I saw the girl ranma completely naked (and unedited). Wow! By researching online, I found out what manga is and became interested in japanese culture. 3 years, 10 months ago

yeah! But since then, I'm interested in other aspects of anime like culture and music. Because of Rumiko Takahashi, I'm learning Japanese. -

@jim was it really Poke'mon? I remember waking up really early every day to watch that show, and even back then it was a guilty pleasure. I really haven't had that much joy, especially in waking up early, in a long time!
