Okay, everyone has heard of Transformers, and hopefully everyone has heard of Voltron, but which is better? I've only seen a few episodes of Voltron, but it is very awesome. I'm honestly leaning more towards Voltron.

I have to say, I was somewhat dissapointed in the Transformers movie(I have yet to see the second). I'm not sure why...I don't know. It wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. 3 years, 10 months ago

Oh Voltron...how many times did I rent that movie at Blockbuster...lol Yea I got excited and giggled like a school girl every time they summoned their mechanical saber tooth tigers from all the elemental settings and transformed into that epic monolithic sword wielding space warrior. It was just a bunch of cliche awesomeness mangled into one. I'm going to compare it to G-1 since they were around roughly during the same time. While I found Voltron more visually pleasing with its mech designs, it's definite that Transformers takes the cake. They had crazy plot twists and even though I usually hate when humans are more involved in mech stories than they have to be, they wouldn't fail so hard at it and made it seem actually interesting. I found it even more interesting in Beast Wars when I found out that the Predacons and Maximals were actually descendants of the Decepticons and Autobots from the future but accidentally went so far back in time that they arrived on Earth BEFORE the Autobots and Decepticons woke up and even before human civilization would form. That was probably my first mind blowing experience from Transformers. Then Beast Machines had to come and make everything unnecessarily confusing. 3 years, 10 months ago

I agree that Transformers has more of a plot tahn Voltron, but I think we can all agree that Power Rangers is ten thousand times suckier than Voltron. Plus it's great if you like big robots, which I do. 3 years, 10 months ago

You're joking, right? The only thing I can think of that MIGHT be worse than Power Rangers is what my hackey sack smelled like after I dropped it in a toilet. 3 years, 10 months ago

The problem with Voltron is the unoriginality that emanates from every fiber of the show. Each robot is exactly the same(disregarding color, though it is oh so important as the only distinguishing factor). It's an unfair comparison to put Voltron and Transformers in the same ring. Maybe Gundam Wing would be more even match. Transformers successfully ran multiple seasons and series, each worthy of bearing the Transformers title. Transformers: Beast Wars, there's no topping that, the graphics for the time were out of this world, and the show had in depth characters, strong plots, and even underlying morals and life lessons scattered through episodes. 3 years, 10 months ago

@Kayla I beg you, do not see this film because it will only encourage Michael Bay to make more. At least he's taking time off from the films now, but it is possible that he returns. Wait for a DVD release and have Jim get it off of Netflix for you, at the very most! Also, I'm sure your brain will implode if you see this film, so fair warning! The only reason this movie was worth watching was:

To quote Megan Fox: "I'm in the movie, and I read the script, and I watched the movie, and I still didn't know what was happening." Yeah, that was a big chunk of my life that I'll never get back. -

Transformers would have to be the better one. Although i always thought that the transformation/disguise part was the human equivalent of covering you face with your hands or basically turning around. But that's just me. 3 years, 10 months ago

To be fair, there are a ton of big rigs with flames painted on them. And the Autobot symbol as a hood ornament. -

It's a toss-up. Voltron has a special place in my heart from childhood (Lance was my first cartoon crush; I still own the original figure of him from the plastic Lions set), but I enjoy Transformers as well. I got into TF later in life. I think I might enjoy Voltron a little more only because the music gets me going everytime. Watching the original series is mindblowing, though. XD 3 years, 9 months ago

Transformers > Voltron. Sorry. Voltron was cool and all, but Transformers was more original. And there were a lot of different good series and the New Movies are actually great. Though when faced with the coice I picked the new Harry Potter over Transformers 2. XD 3 years, 9 months ago

Though this isn't a thread about Power Rangers, I have to say that back in the 90's the original seasons of Power Rangers were popular enough to make at least one fairly decent film out of it. It's fine not to like Power Rangers, but it's not really fair to judge if you haven't been there from the beginning because yes - the Power Rangers of the last 7+ years has been horrible. Anyway, Transformers has some serious plot and conflict. Voltron is atypical combining robot series, but not bad for the time period in which it was released. Voltron, similar to Power Rangers, can get your imagination going and make you feel like a hero. Transformers, depending on your outlook, can also get your imagination going, but it distances the viewer from the conflict. Despite GooieGreen saying that the movies "pissed all over his childhood," what makes Transformers movies good is that it brings the viewer into the conflict. Every movie needs a hook, and if the movies were like the originals, they wouldn't have been nearly as infatuating because adult viewers would get bored reading about robots fighting over a Cube. Michael Bay had the right idea in terms of keeping it true while appealing to a broad, visually-charged audience. With that said, my only way of deciding on this is to look to my childhood. I loved Beast Wars and watched it every morning. Voltron is vague in my mind. And so, Transformers gets my vote. I could have just said that at the beginning, but I felt it necessary to give broader perspective to this seemingly narrow-minded poll. =] 3 years, 10 months ago

Voltron is absolute garbage. It is your prototypical useless transforming-into-ultimate-robot-form show that most of us got our fill when Power Rangers was popular. Predates the show a bit, but still... terrible show. Transformers, however, actually has personal conflict and subplots that Voltron doesn't even have at all. BUMBLEBEE! Sorry, I just saw the second movie last night, knowing it was going to be even worse than the 1st... we spent the entire film (in imax) making fun of how terribly cliche and racist it was. Despite Michael Bay pissing all over my childhood, the actual series is vastly more interesting. Very camp at times, but still better. 3 years, 10 months ago

@Nina Chill. Just Chill. I voted you down because I disagree with your comments. Also, your posts are too friggin' long. It burns my eyes... kinda like Transformers did. MY GOD it was soooo bad! If you can stand how terrible old anime is, then sure, Voltron is still just 'o.k.', but that doesn't say much. It is a lot easier to like Transformers, especially seeing how many different generations of the anime is out there. I feel like the series is a lot more accessible to a wider audience than Voltron is. 3 years, 10 months ago
